This unique release chronicles the traditional musical styles of Ingria, the region of St. Petersberg, Russia, and roughly 70 kilometers surrounding it. The 22 tracks all date from the mid-19th to the early 20th century and are performed in traditional style, with all lyrics sung in Ingrian or Karelian. The CD booklet includes song translations and a history of the region. Also available: "The Karelian Folk Music Ensemble" (all-instrumental).
